Title:  Accounting Assistant (Civil Service Title:  Account Clerk)

Reports To:  Division Manager, Fiscal Division

Overview: Supports fiscal grant functions as assigned and supports working in cooperation with Office staff, other county staff and grantees.


  • Establish and amend County budgets for all Office grants.
  • Establish and amend all State Office grants (Area Plan Contract, Respite, PASP and SHIP).
  • Create and revise budgets as needed for approximately 65 programs.
  • Responsible for quarterly State reports for 4 grants.
  • Work with auditors on a bi-annual basis.
  • Cross trained in different responsibilities with the Fiscal Division
  • Required to learn to utilize various computer programs: SAMS, SAGE, One Solution, Word, and Excel for example.
  • Ability to provide advice and technical assistance
  • Maintains the essential records and files
  • Ability to write descriptive reports using proper style and format.
  • Ability to orally express oneself clearly and concisely, imparting information, answering questions, and explaining activities and/or directions in a manner appropriate for listeners.
  • Ability to develop written communication material to convey information concerning a range of subject related to the agency’s progress.
  • Ability to carry out recurring assignments independently and in accord with established procedures, policies, and previous experience.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relations with supervisors, coworkers, and grantees.
  • Clerical Responsibilities, as needed
  • Works to promote a healthy work environment.



Education: Bachelor’s degree with 15 accounting credits at a minimum. Accounting degree a plus.

Experience: 1-2 years related experience in accounting or finance functions desirable, accepting recent graduates or those with related internship experiences

Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Excel; willing to learn other accounting software
