Reports to: Deputy Clerk


Under direction of the Election Supervisor, works to ensure accurate and efficient operations of the elections process within the County Clerk’s Office. 



Employees frequently work with other government agencies both Federal, State, County, and local level along with the public, and must feel comfortable

speaking on the telephone in high volume, while maintaining high levels of professionalism. 


Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages OPRA requests and prepares responses for final approval by Elections Supervisor.
  • Provides information and assistance to the public related to voting and election processes.
  • Assists in communicating and coordinating with Municipal Clerks, School Board Administrators, Fire Commissioners, Political Organizations,
    various County Departments, and New Jersey Department of State to acquire necessary information and resources to conduct an election.
  • Assists in responding to public and media inquiries, both oral and written, assigned to Elections division.
  • Assists in the mailing of Vote by Mail Ballots and in the preparation of voting supplies to each of the 615 voting districts.
  • Inputs, updates, and maintains voter records.
  • Directs calls, handles mail, operates office equipment, maintains office supplies, assists in the preparation of memos, reports, and correspondence.
  • Enters, maintains, and distributes public records/data.
  • Assists in training, mentoring, and advising temporary and Seasonal Elections Staff, Poll Workers, Volunteers, etc.
  • Serves as back-up to the Elections Supervisor as needed and/or in the Supervisor’s absence.
  • Other duties as assigned.






Must have at least one-year experience in the public sector, political office, or legal office. Political acumen and/or prior experience working in Elections would be a helpful asset. 



A college degree is required. 


Knowledge and Skills:

  • The applicant must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, have proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook and be comfortable using multiple state and county databases. 
  • Strong customer service skills are required, and applicant must have the ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines in an evolving office.  
  • Interacting with the public must be both inherent and completely honest.  
  • Must be comfortable working with professionals in various county and municipal offices (county counsel, Information Technology, municipal clerks, etc.) 
  • The individual must be self-directed and detail oriented.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think quickly on their feet.
  • Must be comfortable with learning and utilizing new technology
  • Position requires that staff maintain up- to-date knowledge of all relevant State and Federal Election Laws (including Title 19) and the Statewide Voter Registration System (SVRS).
